Counselling Approach
Sessions with Christina feel very relaxed, non judgemental, and offer the safety that invites clients to talk openly about any and all topics. She sees her role as a therapist is to help clients find clarity and acceptance of their internal and external experiences, and to also find ways to work toward goals and make meaningful changes. She has a warm and friendly approach to foster a strong rapport with clients and believes in supporting their goals while offering her own personal and professional insight.
Christina brings a goal oriented approach to her sessions with clients, and likes to offer concrete strategies that clients can practice in between sessions. She knows that people come to her looking for tangible solutions to very real problems, so she's meets you there and makes sure you feel like you leave with specific and actionable strategies.
At times, Christina shares personal examples to help her clients feel less alone, and more understood. Her passion for self-acceptance is due to her own journey in learning to accept herself for who she is, and to find the belief that she is worthy of support from her partner, family, friends, and professionals. She believes in challenging the societal pressure to become the "perfect" mother, and instead, to find self-compassion and empathy while letting go of unnecessary guilt that can become consuming.
Christina uses an integrative therapeutic approach, depending on the particular needs and goals of her clients. The modalities she draws from include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, The Gottman Method, Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-based Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Strengths-Based Therapy.
